Paying for insomnia

Yesterday I could not make it.  I had to go home early from work and I slept.

Thus I missed my gym workout.

But I did make some of it up today, after burning about 740 calories on the treadmill and over 300 on the elliptical, I decided to use the dumbells and work my chest.

Not a full workout like what I would have had at the gym but enough.

I jumped on the scale at work and wow, was at 245

Too bad, this is the official weight

Insomnia sucks

Couldn’t sleep last night, I know today is going to be a rough one but I know I have a presentation to do today.

At least I got out and ran,

Then got gym workout tonight.   I should be exhausted by tonight.

Wow, thought I did better

Well, ran a 5k, based on the feel of the run I swear I thought I broke my record.  To my surprise I did not.

Pretty bummed.

Time: 37:35

Well, may next time.  But the rest was badly needed.  My psyche may have taken a hit, but my my physical being needed healing.

At least I proved my weight was an anomoly yesterday.

So Tired Today

I don’t know why I was so lethargic today.  I slept well.

Anyway, after church took a nap and went to party and got home late.

Could only to some quick pushups and situps .

Weight is no surprise, I would say it is an anomaly.    It will go down.  It was right after dinner.

Definately Experiencing Burnout

I don’t know if its the air quality, tired, lazy, or fear of the long running, but I certainly am not running at peak performance.

I did a 2 lap this morning and came in at 27:02.62, within parameters but I wish I could have done better.   Maybe I really should have taken time yesterday to truly rest instead of attempting a fast run.

Anyway I pulled up the Army Physical Fitness Test yesterday while I was on the bus

Air… need air

Alright, today was supposed to be a light day, but I wanted to see what my legs could do for speed (vs distance) so after work I tried to run as fast as I could for 1 lap (which is a little more than a mile), I thought I would’ve done better then I did but I had a hard time breathing.  Worse than usual.  Cause after the run I was coughing up some gunk.

I think if I had full lung capacity I would have done better than what I did.  Maybe even crack 10 minutes.  Anyway my time was 10:53.78.  Not disappointing but I thought I could do better, like studying hard for an exam but just got the wrong questions asked during the exam and scored a B+ vs a solid A.

Thinking I could go faster

Still dread my workouts.  I wonder when this dread will stop because it sure hurts my desire.

Anyway, did pretty good regardless.  I ran a 5k in decent time.

Time: 36:41

5 seconds short of beating the record.

Tomorrow is a rest day, normally I take an easy run.  I think for my one lap, I am going to push… hard.

Interesting number for the weight.  I think this is the first time I hit it on the nose.

Losing Willpower

Today I ran a 2 lap

Time: 25:17.14

and I got some gym workout this afternoon.

What’s disturbing me is that I seem to be losing that desire to push harder.  Note that I still putting in good time and my weekend run is pretty awesome but I do dread those Saturdays.

My fellow runner Lilli made a comment yesterday that I absolutely agree with.  I dread Saturdays.

Sunday I was so burned out I could not run and yesterday on the treadmill I barely could start.  Saturday’s run had a higher cost then anticipated, specifically, willpower.

I will push on though, maybe it is just  a phase.  After the half marathon, I get to tone down my workouts.

Tough Workout

Getting into the groove today was tough.  Normally Monday is a 5k but because of my schedule I switched it with my 1000 calorie workout Wednesday.

But judging by my performance on the treadmill, I doubt I would have had a decent time running a 5k.  Mentally I wanted to work out but when I finally started, it was so hard to get going.

Check out what I did

First was the treadmill, I tried to run for 36 minutes but I just could not.  I ended up stopping at 18 minutes and if I recall correctly burned about 300 calories.  I did run another 6 minutes and struggled mightily for a mere 73 calories.  So for this first and second treadmill attempt I would just record it as 292 Calories.
I had more luck on my first shot on the elliptical, not sure if I was warmed up are finally past my lull.  But I did burn 413 Calories in 30 minutes.
My third treadmill run was 338 calories at a low 2 incline where I ran 1.5 miles 18 min
I finished off on the elliptical for 12 minutes burning 164 calories.

In the end I did burn my 1000 calories but it was super tough.

Tomorrow is no cake since I have 2 workouts.  But at least it is split into two.
