Pain Killers will mess you up

I mentioned yesterday that the pain returned to my foot, I had some vicodin so I decided to take it to numb the pain.

Big mistake, that stuff is nasty, it ruined my sleep.  No more.

Anyway,  it took till like 4PM to recover.  I went for a nice jog, pain was still there but I did jog lightly.  You can tell by my sad time 13:57.38

Superbowl Sunday

Today is Superbowl Sunday where the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts.

It was a relaxing day, I wanted to continue to let my foot heal.

Maybe I ate too much food though.

Anyway I am glad I rested, my foot started acting up again.

Whoa pretty heavy, bust just ate dinner so this is skewed.

Easy workout day

Once again need to rest.  My foot doesn’t feel hurt but I know I have been premature in my return.

Low impact but good workout

I need to figure out how to continue to let my foot heal while getting my legs into shape.

Maybe some longer distance walking will do while I weights and some bike riding.

Had a decent workout today, in addition to some weights I did 254 on the stationary bike and 150 on the elliptical.

The weight I am at is what I believe to be accurate.  I hope to be in the low 240’s be end of Feb.

Still hurting, I should take it easy

I ran a mile and walked a mile today and that was a mistake.  I thought my left foot is good but today’s run was a clear indication that I should not push it anymore.

The run was done in 14:39.66

Over the next few days I will think of easier workouts.

Sore vs Hurt vs Injured

I was feeling good and went into my workout today thinking I was going to rock.

Yesterday I got off the treadmill and I thought my left foot was pretty sore.  Almost stinging.

Today after my warm up run I had the same pain. 

When I get done with a good work out I like being sore.  To me it is a sign that I had a good workout. 

Last month with the gout, I considered myself injured.  Something was definitely wrong and any workout had the potential for long term maybe even permanent injury.

Hurt is the middle ground.  This is real pain, and its hard to tell if pushing will make it worse and lead to injury.  I can tell though that this is rough stuff.  I think if I push, it will lead to injury and a much more down time. 

So I will take it easy.  Tomorrow, I will try a 1 mile run and a 1 mile walk.  No 4+ this weekend.  Hard to know when I can run a 4+ again.

Going to try a vegi diet

During Lent you are supposed to give up something.  One thing I will try to give up and this will be very difficult is meat.

I am not going to be a true vegan or vegetarian, but I will make an honest try to give up meat.  Basically if it breaths I can’t eat it.  So Pork, Beef, and Chicken.  Fish will be OK, but I will have to avoid shell fish to prevent gout.

Inspiration came from coworkers Alison and Abbie, as well as a former coworker Matt T.  Today I went to lunch with Alison so I could get some tips on what to eat.  I picked something out and it was awesome, I really did like the taste.  Another think she mentioned was to expect to get hungry again quickly.  One thing I noticed was the price, little bit more than I usually spend for lunch but not out there.  Matt was more of “Part Time” vegetarian, and who knows, maybe I will be that after Lent.

Also for dinner, I had fish and veggies, was good too.

This was a dry run though.  Lent will be from Feb 17th to April 3rd.

Workout was most excellent, although I think I may have hurt something.  I’ll see in a day or two if I over did it.

Back to good habits

Now that my foot is healed (almost) I can get back to my normal habits like catching the bus, morning workouts etc.   Got up this morning to catch the bus, and had a really good workout at the office.

Yes, am nearly up to speed

Today I was back on the sidewalk running at a fairly decent pace.  It was a struggle but it did feel good.  My left food was not in pain like it was, more of an annoyance.  But I do know, one bad step and I could be out again for more than a week.

My time,13:39.85,  wasn’t great and I only ran 1 lap while walking another, it was a real run nonetheless.

So I will restart my workout, and Febuary first is a good of a time as any to call it a start.

On another subject, what is up with my weight, seems like the heavier I get the better my foot feels.  That is not right.
