Hello My name is Larry and I am starting this blog to track my progress on my losing weight.
This blog started on June 20th, 2009. At that point I weigh about 295lbs.
This blog will end on June 20th 2010. And I hope to be 190lbs by then.
That is 105 lbgs I need to lose, roughly 2 pounds a week.
In order to burn this 2 pounds a week I will need to burn an access of 1000 calories per day. Not easy.
Why am I doing this?
Yes I am fat and I probably am not to appealing to the eyes. But I was happy. I have a loving wife, 4 kids who look up to me and a decent career going.
But if you have ever been heavy, it sucks. Walking up hills is a challenge. You worry if that folding chair will hold you up. You can’t sleep right because of Sleep Apnea, you tend to snore louder keeping your spouse up too.
In February of 2008, I hit 300 pounds for the first time and I was in Hawaii at the time. I did not mention it to anyone but I had a headache and felt dizzy. I thought to myself “Is this a stroke?”
After that happened I tried to lose weight. Now I have lost weight before, I have gone from 270 to 240 before around the year 2002. But last year I just could not get motivated, even after that scary experience. I hit 282 pounds and could not get past it.
What is different this time? For one thing, I am not working long hours like I have been as a consultant. I have commited myself to using the extra hours in the day to get healthy.
Another thing is my work place. We have a downtown office and an office near Burien. Both offices have gyms, so weather should not be an excuse.
Finally, I have a lot of people around me that I can tell my plans to. Some can help keep me on track and give me advice and others still are on the same journey I am on. In my head, I do not want to let them down.
